Heinrich Hermann Schafer (1815-1873)

Painter of architectural subjects. Born in Halberstadt. Was a pupil of Dussledorf Academy and C.F.Sohn. He specialised in a great many town scenes in France, Germany and Netherlands. His subjects had a simplicity but charming quality. During his life his work was popular and is of unique interest today. in 1860 he exhibited a painting at the British Institution.
