George Turner was a prolific artist painting many country views mainly in Derbyshire where he lived all his life. But he also painted in Wales and occasionally in Scotland. He was largely self taught but became a pofessional artist of repute as well an art teacher with several renowned pupils such as Louis Bosworth Hurt. He was also a part-time farmer, so a very busy man! Father of William Lakin Turner.
