Second of a lovely pair of town scenes by this London artist. Now identified by an observant and knowledgeable client as Chester Square, Belgravia, London S.W.1. Lady Margaret Thatcher lived nearby. Prime real estate indeed! This painting is unsigned. (The other one of the pair is signed and dated 1858). A very interesting and imposing painting, and well framed. John Edwin Oldfield comes close to being classed as an early English watercolourist and examples of his work are uncommon. *Spot the deliberate mistake!The mount is entitled J.R.Oldfield.This is now corrected!
