Emil Axel Krause (Danish, 1871-1945)

Born and studied art in Copenhagen, Denmark, Krause came to the UK and is well known for his scenic watercolours of the North of England and Scotland. He began painting in the southern counties and Wales gradually moving North first falling in love with the English Lakes and then Scotland. At about the time of the First World War he changed his name to Stock either through angliscising his name or perhaps it sounded Germanic. We have recently been told that he became interested in photography and indeed ended up in Inverness,Scotland with a photographic and art studio.
